Facebook gets Arjun Kapoor his first role - Hindustan Times

Priyanka Chopra and Sonam Kapoor are also promoting their first cousins Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor respectively. Priyanka's chat status had read: "Go Pari and Arjun!" while Sonam had tweeted: "My brother Arjun's trailer of Ishaqzaade comes out in a few minutes. It's gonna be brilliant. Congrats Parineeti and Arjun."

It's generally believed that star kids get a break in Bollywood very easily. But Boney Kapoor's son Arjun, who is also Sonam Kapoor's cousin, bagged his first movie Ishaqzaade through the social networking site Facebook. Apparently, Yash Raj Film's (YRF) casting director Shanoo Sharma was looking for an actor to play the male lead in Habib Tanvir's film when she came across Arjun's profile on Facebook and immediately decided to meet him. "At that time, no one knew that Arjun was Boney's son. Once Shanoo met Arjun, everyone in the YRF team was sure that they wanted him for this film. He fit the bill perfectly. Plus, they wanted to cast a new face in the role opposite Parineeti Chopra," says an insider in YRF.

Although Arjun is unavailable for media interactions at the moment, Shanoo confirms the news saying: "Yes, Arjun and I met on Facebook via our common friends. When I was going through his pictures, I instantly felt that he had a lot of potential. Later, I met him over coffee and then at a couple of auditions. But he wasn't told which project it was being done for."

For the uninitiated, Boney and late Mona Kapoor's son will be seen on the big screen this May alongside Parineeti, who made her debut last year with Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl. Arjun, who studied cinema at Asian Academy of Film and Television, has worked as an assistant director on films like Shakti: The Power (2002), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003) and Salaam-E-Ishq (2007).

A couple of days ago, the release date of Ishaqzaade was antedated from May 18 to May 11, resulting in a clash with Vikram Bhatt's 3D outing, Dangerous Ishq, which marks the comeback of Karisma Kapoor to Bollywood after five years.
