When you choose to deactivate your Facebook profile, the profile is not deleted. Your Timeline disappears along with several messages, but in fact, profile information- friends, messages, photos, etc., remain stored in Facebook's internal databases so that you can have a full-fledged profile again if you decide to return to the website.
This works for most people because they intend to leave Facebook only for temporary reasons. However, some users may not want Facebook to have stored copy of their personal data. To have the account utterly and irrevocably deleted, users need to submit a special request to Facebook at this URL: https://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=delete_account
Only after confirming that you're the owner of the account will you be allowed to delete it. Before deleting your profiles permanently though, please do check out our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TechChronicle for other useful tips and tricks.
