Facebook makes user addresses, e-mail identical - CNET

Facebook's username will match the e-mail address username.

Facebook's users' usernames will match their e-mail address usernames.

Facebook has made it easier for users to connect with, and e-mail, others.

The company announced yesterday that over the next few weeks, it'll be "updating addresses on Facebook to make them consistent across our site." In order words, a person's username addresses on the site will match their e-mail address username.

Although the update is minor, it might go a long way in improving use of Facebook's e-mail services. With a person's username address and e-mail address matching up, it should make it simpler for users to determine what a person's e-mail address is and send them a message. At the same time, those who are already e-mailing a person's Facebook account shouldn't have any trouble finding their unique URL on the site.

Facebook said yesterday that any users that have already set up an e-mail address will not be affected by the changeover.
