Jake Lake is President of the Burley, Idaho FFA Chapter. A lot of us  wonder where today's youth are headed and fear that it could be in the wrong direction. Well, a breath of fresh air comes when you hear what Jake recently told Idaho Farm Bureau producer Steve Ritter."We are here for our leadership conference and a day on the hill. What does that mean? That means that we have 562 FFA members from around the state and we just got done having lunch with our legislators and we are getting ready to send them in to their leadership conferences where they are going to learn leadership skills essential to them becoming leaders. Why would I want to be a member of an FFA chapter? We can send you 2 other student organizations and they will teach you how to do accounting, they will teach you how to cook, some of them will even teach you how to play a sport, FFA will teach you how to do all of those things. You are pretty important to agriculture. Tell me why? We are the nations largest use leadership organization and we have been around the longest. It is important because we teach our students leadership qualities and skills that are essential for them to take their place in a challenging career in the future and I would guarantee that that is why you when you run into an FFA member former or current wherever you go and there is agriculture.
