Clean Water Act comes with attachments. Politicians, when you look under the hood, often attach riders or conditions to bills they propose…kind of an add on that…if you want this, then you have to take that. So it is with an EPA proposal that requires that any operation meeting CAFO requirements must provide the federal agency with a laundry list of information including; owner contact information, longitude and latitude of the operation's location, number and type of livestock, and acreage of land.  This information would then be placed in a searchable database on the EPA's website. Idaho Cattlemans Association Executive Director Wyatt Prescott shared his thoughts about this kind of proposal:  "This is an impediment to doing business. Oh I know. Absolutely. Is giving away a lot of your business information that makes you successful in the business. To be clear, our  gets taste for this proposal is not in any way advocating against clean water. As stewards of the land we recognize the importance of keeping our nation's water in good condition. Our issue here is that this serves as an un-necessary government intrusion. The EPA can still achieve the goal of clean water without forcing all of this information out of producers on the ground. They just want more information."
