Popular restaurateur Sylvia Casares -- owner of Sylvia's Enchilada Kitchen -- has now been identified as the victim of a shooting near Fulshear Monday night, according to a report by Katharine Shilcutt, food critic for the Houston Press. Shilcutt reports Casares is in stable condition at an undisclosed Houston hospital, after being transported by LifeFlight with a bullet wound to the stomach.
Her recovery may take up to three months, according to the story.
Earlier, the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office identified the suspect as Michael Warren, Casares' boyfriend and business partner, and Crime Stoppers offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. That alert said Warren should be considered armed and dangerous. Authorities said he was driving a 2004 black GMC Yukon SUV bearing Texas plates 42M-VT1.
